Kudzu is a magical plant for women with menopause. While, it has not had a significant investment of research to determine all of the benefits that Kudzu could provide, we know that Kudzu root contains phytoestrogens, plan compounds that scientist have found act similarly to estrogen in the human body.
In October 2021 a clinical study was published in "Frontiers in Pharmacology" assessing the benefits of Kudzu on menopausal symptoms.
It was a small study of 50 women over 4 weeks.
The Results!
"The results indicate that Kudzu extract may possess beneficial effects on bone and cartilage health and may be a promising natural alternative to existing treatments for menopausal symptoms. Kudzu root extract was well tolerated for short-term treatment of mild to severe menopausal symptoms in women in all tested doses and dose frequencies."
What the heck is Kudzu?
Kudzu is a fast-growing vine native to East Asia that was introduced to the United States in the late 19th century for ornamental purposes and soil erosion control. Kudzu is known for its rapid growth rate, often spreading up to a foot per day during the growing season, and can quickly cover trees, shrubs, and buildings, leading to its reputation as an invasive species in many areas. The plant has broad leaves and produces clusters of purple flowers with a grape-like scent.
